Final unlucky…

He dominated practically the entire race and was trying to have his first win on asphalt when at the very last moment a problem with the engine ‘ruined’ the excellent work done in the first two days of the race!

The Norwegian lost a good 31″9 along the trial in favor of Kopecky:

“I had no power, there were constant problems with the ignition these the words of the dejected Mikkelsen at the end of the race.”

A truly bitter result for our current champion…. but we are only at the beginning… the next date is the 6 – 7 of April with the CIRCUIT OF IRELAND, a historical trial on asphalt, for the first time in the IRC calendar!!

Young people like “new things” so it will be a great occasion to celebrate the first victory on asphalt!!

WTCC…THE NEW SEASON KICKS OFF IN MONZA!!

The 2012 FIA WTCC kicks off this weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Italy’s temple of speed.

This superfast circuit, hosted the first ever WTCC event back in 2005. The championship paid a stop in Monza nearly every year since, with the exception of 2009, when the WTCC Race of Italy was temporarily moved to Imola.

WTCC is one of the favourite events for the enthusiastic Italian fans who always come to fill the grandstands in overtaking places such as the first chicane and the Ascari.

Chevrolet triumphed in the last three races, with Rob Huff scoring a double last year.

The race weekend will be opened today, by a full test day made of five one-hour sessions.

We are ready and we want to start ….. ….. As we finished!

Andreas Mikkelsen dominated the Azores!

Andreas Mikkelsen literally dominated the Azores Rally, the first trial of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge 2012. The current Norwegian champion won ten of the thirteen special races run (in the afternoon of the second leg the PS 8 was cancelled because of the strong rains that battered the archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic. The PS9 was seriously shortened for the same reason). Thus, only the crumbs were left for Juhl Hanninen, who nonetheless ran a good race.

The two of them battled it out, always finishing first and second separated by a maximum of 5”2, but Andreas always got the better of it!
A great start to the season…. And he who starts out well….
