OMP’s Victor Carbone scored his first Firestone Indy Lights Series victory in the final race of the 2011 season, the fourth driver from Sam Schmidt Motorsports to score a win this year.

The 19-year-old Brazilian started from pole, also his first, but wasn’t able to hold the top spot.

He fell into second behind teammate and series champion Josef Newgarden for most of the race.

On the final lap, Carbone attempted to pass Newgarden but contacted Newgarden’s tire, which cut it and sent him to ninth as the last car on the lead lap.

“I tried to get spots from him and touched him twice. I didn’t mean to,” Carbone said. “I think I cut his tire. I wanted to win but not like this.

I wanted the team to be 1-2-3. This win is for (the late) Chris Griffis (former SSM team manager) and the entire team.” In any case, impressive job Victor!

Marco Andretti had to wait 5 years, but finally he got back on the highest step of the Indycar podium – he conquered the second success of his career in the night race held on the IOWA SPEEDWAY.

Marco pushed very hard during the race and had a fantastic fight with Tony Kanaan: after the last pit stop they exchanged their positions 5-6 times, until Marco was able to build a little gap on his followers and so arrived first at the end of the race after no wins since 2006!!

OMP’s Ricky Taylor held off Scott Pruett by 3.839 seconds Saturday to win the 30th Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, ending one winning streak while continuing another.

Taylor was joined by Max Angelelli in the No. 10 SunTrust Chevrolet/Dallara, winning his second consecutive Rolex Series race from the pole.

Pruett and Memo Rojas were seeking their fourth consecutive victory in the event – the second-longest race on the GRAND-AM Rolex Series schedule.

An off-track excursion by Paul Dalla Lana in the closing minutes led to the fifth and final caution, setting the stage for a three-lap sprint to the checkered flag.

Running as the closing driver for the first time with SunTrust Racing, the 21-year-old driver from Apopka, Fla., resident was able to pull away from Pruett to take his third career DP victory – and 17th for Angelelli.
