Power fighting for the Championship in Las Vegas!!

“We need to win the race,” says Power, who has one career oval victory (at Texas in June). “Whatever else happens is totally out of our control. So we’re just focused on doing that and also getting the other two (Ryan Briscoe and Helio Castroneves) up there as well because, at the end of the day, if we finish one, two, three as a team we win the championship.

The plan is simple enough to get his hands around the IZOD IndyCar Series World Championship Trophy unveiled at the news conference. The execution, of course, is another matter. And with 33 other cars on the oval running inches apart for 200 laps, Power can’t get lost in the pack.

Good luck Will, OMP is behind you!!!!

The winner of the Copa de Oro is considered the TC champion for the season and there are only four races left.

OMP is very happy to be represented by two of the best drivers in Argentina.

Juncos Racing…

Juncos Racing fought hard all season for the Team Championship title and went into this weekend just two points away from the lead. After 11 rounds of racing, the team ended up finishing second after leaders Team Pelfrey finished first and second in today’s race. At the end of 2011, Juncos Racing captured nine podiums, one pole position, and one win, all victories the reigning champions can be proud of achieving in their third season of racing in the Star Mazda Championship.

Team Owner, Ricardo Juncos on the race and 2011 season: « At the start of the weekend, everything was so smooth and perfect. Unfortunately, from the last practice on Friday to qualifying today, the track changed a lot, and we didn’t have time to make any major adjustments. That’s racing, though. We struggled a lot in the race with setup which hurt our performance. We expected the track to change, but some teams got lucky with the changes and some didn’t. We didn’t. We lost our contention for the team championship today, but I’m still so happy with the 2011 season.

All year we showed what we can do. Look at Gustavo-he never drove a formula car before this year, and he showed he can be at the top. It was a challenge this season having drivers that needed a little more development, but that’s what we love and what we strive for. We showed this year that Juncos Racing can develop a driver from race one until the end. That’s always our goal, and that’s what we did. I’m really happy. It was a good season with great team effort. Thanks to the drivers, team, sponsors, fathers, and everyone for making it happen. I am looking forward to 2012 now. »

Juncos Racing will now focus on off-season testing and preparation for the 2012 racing season. The team would like to extend its continued thanks to OMP Racing for its support in providing top of the line racing gear for the team’s drivers.

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca…

Patrick Long (USA) and Joerg Bergmeister (Germany) have led their #45 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 RSR to the American Le Mans Series GT class victory on the last lap at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca each of the last three years, and this year’s ModSpace ALMS event was no exception.

« We have had a very good car on multiple occasions, only to have something bad happen, either our fault or someone else’s, » said Bergmeister, who also won the GT championship in 2008 with Flying Lizard Motorsports and co-driver Wolf Henzler. »We hope to have a similar result at Petit Le Mans, and have some momentum going into the 2012. It is also important that we have a good finish so Porsche can gain maximum manufacturers points, » said Bergmeister.

Long pointed out that the Lizards’ strategy for this race was to protect the car and stay away from the pushing and bumping that had been creeping into the class, but it just didn’t work today. « During Joerg’s opening stint, there was rough driving right from the start, and we laid back, choosing to let the officials handle the consequences. When things didn’t calm down, we just tried to stay on the track, race hard, and be there at the end, and we put ourselves in position to win with the right amount of fuel, good tires, and a fast car, » said Patrick.
